Halloweek 4

disco ballSo all the Strictly contestants have performed again to keep themselves in the grueling BBC dance competition. I have to say, I was both surprised and disappointed by this week’s Halloween collection.

First of all, Dani kicked off the show with a rather unusual cha-cha to the Scooby Doo theme. For me, the combination just didn’t work. The song choice, costume and dance content was not one that I would rush to watch again. The slow rhythm of Scooby Dooby Doo… where are you…” just didn’t do the Cha-Cha justice, nor did Dani’s costume for her figure.

Richard’s Paso Doble didn’t quite work out for him either. The music, O Fortuna, was the most dramatic part of the performance but the Daybreak presenter gets an A* for effort. Still brilliantly entertaining.

Sid also wasn’t too impressive with his Ghostbusters themed routine. The cheesiness, alongside some not so great Latin moves did not result in a 10 point score but he cannot be criticised for his enthusiasm. I’m sure Ola’s hot pants will have kept plenty of viewers smiling during the performance too!

So far, I have been really impressed with Lisa’s dance talent so I couldn’t wait to see this week’s spooky performance to Witch Doctor. As much as I love her character, she didn’t manage to pull off a great Charleston this week. The reason for this however was clear when Robin explained she had rubber soles stuck on the soles of her shoes to avoid slipping over but this meant she couldn’t quite execute the classic Charleston footwork. Really was a shame.

Fern had to tackle the angry Paso Doble this week, which the judges weren’t too impressed with. But since when is Fern Britton an angry character anyway?

Nicky performed to a song that was so random I can’t even remember it! I do think, however, that he is improving every week and was more than surprised with his rhythm and ease of movement in comparison to the earlier weeks.

Ballroom is definitely more Micheal’s forte than last week’s Latin. Again I was rather impressed with his Quickstep to That Old Black Magic and wouldn’t be at all surprised if he escapes the bottom two tomorrow night.

Colin had a bit of disco groove going on tonight with a Salsa to Superstition that certainly impressed Craig. I have to say, I prefer the tall action actor in hold but he really did look like he was enjoying himself out on the dance-floor strutting his stuff tonight!

For me, Louis won the star performer badge this week with his Tango to Disturbia. Anyone that can do a one-handed back flip is always going to win me over but when it is matched by a good Tango and an intense character, then I am blown away. As were the judges, rewarding the Olympic medalist with the first 9s of the competition. A good week for Louis!

I have been so impressed with Denise so far in the competition so was expecting a real Halloween treat tonight but unfortunately, I felt more tricked than treated. Having such good legs, I wanted the actress to show off those hips but she didn’t quite pull it off. Moves those hips girl!

Victoria managed her first week without any noticeable mistakes and to a high standard as well. The couple performed a Tango to White Wedding which really did impress.

Being in a girl band, especially one as big as Girls Aloud, we are always going to have high expectations of Kimberley and this week’s Paso Doble to Hungry Like The Wolf didn’t disappoint. She kept a serious composure throughout and looked stunning in her blue skirt and sequined top combo.
